UNCAGED 2026

UNCAGED (13 x 19 in).png

Tonya Dalhaus is a storyteller, photographer, and devoted chicken mum who speaks fluent cluck. With a background in journalism and university-level communications, she brings both narrative insight and a sharp visual eye to her work. Her photography captures the intelligence, humor, and emotional depth of her hand-raised backyard flock—often in real, unscripted moments that challenge common assumptions about chickens. Tonya is also the author and illustrator of the children’s book Botl and Hatti Share! Her exhibit, Uncaged: The Conscious Chicken, invites viewers to see chickens not as commodities, but as sentient beings—curious, expressive, and full of character.

The exhibit's framed prints are available below—every purchase supports future chicken enrichment (more skateboards, swings, mealworms, etc.).
